James Morrissey OP I Carpal Tunnel Joined: Feb 2005 Manhattan, New York, New York	This was listed as a 30 foot waterfall in Westchester County that I got up at 5 AM on Saturday morning to go photograph. LOL. It turned out to be about 8 feet, but was still nice. James I had to do a bit of PS work to remove some debris. The question is, can you tell where? Manhattan, New York, NY Pet Photographer

JeffDinPA Old hand J Joined: Mar 2006	8 foot 30 feet, it still makes for a good photo. Looks like you had some difficult lighting to contend with and still made the shot work. Very nice capture of what looks like a very nice place. I can not see the PSed areas, well done although the 4:3rds thing is soso:) Thanks, Jeff

James Morrissey OP I Carpal Tunnel Joined: Feb 2005 Manhattan, New York, New York	Hey Jeff, I know we have had this conversation in the past, but I prefer producing my images the same way that they would be printed. Until Epson comes out with 8x12 paper, they stay 8x10. Having said that, thanks for the comments on the capture. The light was actually pretty good as it was early in the morning. It was starting to get a bit brighter though...and in another 30 or 45 minutes, the light would have been shot. I am going to pick up some ND filters when I get a chance and start experimenting with them. James Manhattan, New York, NY Pet Photographer

Until Epson comes out with 8x12 paper, they stay 8x10. You are right, there is nothing worse they setting up a great shot only to get it back from printing with important stuff cropped off. As for filters, you may want to look into a Cokin P setup. You'd get the ND, and the possibility of Grad ND. I started with Circular ND4 on my pol, but then I wanted a Grad and well replaced a lot. I know a few people who have them and they all report that they are excellent. I think a 2 stop filter would have improved this shot a bit as you can already see the brightening of the highlights (even though it was still not 8 AM when I took this photo, I think) in the shot. James Morrissey OP I Carpal Tunnel Joined: Feb 2005 Manhattan, New York, New York	Hi Cheryl, I am not sure what shutter speed I was using - my guess is that it was over 1 second though. Shots like these cannot really be done hand-held. I was using a tripod for the shot. As I did not have a remote shutter actuator with me, I used the 10 second self-timer to shoot the shot. Did you use a polarizer? That, in and of itself, would get you nearly 2 stops. That said I usually use a ND4 (2 stops) filter in addition to my pol. I have an ND8(3 stops) and that is tough to see what�s going on when combined with the Pol. Also watch to vignetting. With stacked round filter, the cokin P system, or a combo you can have vignette issues with the wide angles. Thanks, Jeff
