"I really hate to be this activist but I plan on never knowing buy anything from China again. Check out todays national papers."
Hey Julie,
There is nothing wrong with being an activist. The question is what reasonably can be done? It is an oppressive government...and this was an evil act. Having said that, while I laud the idea of not purchasing items made in countries where the standard of living is not comparable to the US (i.e. Japan, Western Europe, Canada, etc), the reality is that there needs to be an alternative. I used to purchase all my clothes from LL Bean. Not because of the style, which I disliked, but because it was the only place you could purchase clothing made in the USA. Having said that, about 3 or 4 years ago, they went down the toilet too. I used to purchase only New Balance because they were made in the USA - I stopped after going to the store and not being able to find one pair made in the USA.
It is a 'global economy,' which means we don't make anything anymore. We only sell widgets and hamburgers.
