After a month-long absence, your Critique moderator is back. I've been traveling around Alaska and Sierra Nevada mountains. It is hard to return back to civilization...

Here is my first one for you to critique

Thanks!
Misha

Great composition- makes you want to see it in person. Lines all lead to center left into the picture, crystal clear reflection, colors. Critique? hard- but I would like to see it with even sky color, (was it a circular polarizer? ). But then the colors would not be as saturated,it's a great shot really. 5D?

Thanks Marty. The uneven sky is the only beef I personally have with this photo. As you guessed correctly, it is an artifact of CPL. Unfortunately the colors and the saturation won't be the same without it, so I decided to go with the uneven skies... It is 5D w/ 17-40 f4L

Hi Misha,

LOL, I keep trying to find something to critique in your photo. Outside of the fact that I am not 100% sure that the horizon is perfect, everything else just rocks. The color is rich and magnificent.

Do you want to share a bit more about the photo?

James

Nice work Misha. Nice foreground anchor, and counterbalances nicely with the empty space on the upper left hand side. Horizon line is split close to the middle, but not a hindrance in a shot like this as reflections are usually one f the key reasons to break the rule. Colors are warm and saturated. Good DOF and exposure. Shadow still holds lots of nice detail, and the lit part of the mountain dosnt have hot spots. All in all nice shot. Only niggle is what you already mentioned about the sky....but I don't think it hurts the picture any at all.
