Hey y'all,
I am working on my new website and would appreciate some critique. It is nearly done but I am yet to finish my Bio and Prints sections. I'd love to get some feedback and any recommendations, especially as it relates to site's usability and UI.

Thanks in advance!
Misha

Looks very nice! Not an overwhelming amount of flash and your galleries are nice and simple.

Thanks! I used Flash only for the front-page slideshow. The rest of the site is PHP which is search-engine friendly. I definitely wanted to keep it simple yet stylish... The goal of the UI is to emphasize photos and not to take away from them.

Misha, I like the simple layout, it's easy to brows, loads fast enough on my dial-up too! I dont do flash, so I dont even know what that looks like. . .

I have one other comment that relates to two of your photos. Before I express my comment, I'd like to say that I like your photos. You cleary work very hard to get your images. I think there must be days in your life when you wish you could get more sleep!

There are two photos in the alpine glow gallery that have as much as one or maybe more stops between the reflection and the sky, only the reflection is one or more stops brighter than the sky! I know in nature, this is not possible, but it was the first thing that really caught my eye, so I thought to point it out to you! The shots look nice nonetheless. I was not even going there to criteque your work, but thought I'd share my first imressions of the alpine glow shots.

The website looks nice!

Take care,

Hi Misha,

Thanks for posting your new work.

Positives:
(1) I think that we all agree that your photographs are very strong. So, that part is in the bag.
(2) The site is very easy to navigate - very clear cut.
(3) I enjoy the site colors - they lend to a very elegant over-all look (also, I must add that I love the banner with the mountain..part of me thought it was perhaps a bit dark, but I later gathered that you did this intentionally).
(4) Thanks for adding NWP as a link. You put us in with good company.

There are some minor areas of your site though that I think you may want to look at.

(1) Once you have clicked into a gallery, it might be nice to be able to click out of a root and back into the gallery list in one click. The way that you have it set, the moment you click into a subgroup (like Sierra Nevada), in order to see the various directories, you must take two steps to get back and visit your photographs.

(2) You may want to consider doing your photo galleries in flash. Some of your images are quite good, and I would worry about some of them getting ripped - particularly as all of your photos are not branded on the site. The great thing about flash is that they cannot be ripped off in the same way .html files can be.

(3) ...and this is a knit pick...Misha Logvinov Photography - I think that the word 'photography' is kind of hard to read and blends in a bit too much with the background - though it is pretty obvious that this is what the site is all about.

Cheers
James

Yep, I'm surprised. How do they find us? Fries with that? I think not.

Other than all this Misha, your site looks good still, congrats on the publication in Bay Nature (Accessible Outdoors), that's a beautiful shot.
