Thank you for your kind words Julie. But I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit. Your shots are awesome and they have provided me with alot of inspiration. Part of my business involves doing outdoor animal portraits but after setting up my studio, I can't wait to start doing studio pet portraits for customers. I have included a few more from today. I really have to get myself a new model though. Oh, try to ignore the couple of dust spots that I forgot to clone out.

Those really do look great! I have model issues too. Mine are just whippet-centric.

How do you have your lights placed? I have such shadow issues with the white paper

Hey Brian,

These are marvelous. I am impressed that you were able to keep the shadows down as well as you have been doing so - particularly with the short dacshuund. How are you setting up your lights?

James

Hey guys

I am glad your enjoying the photos and I am looking forward to seeing some other peoples work. My lights consist of 2 ab800. I have 1 large softbox about 4-5 feet to the left of the dog and the fill light is about 7 feet directly in front of the dog. The bottom of the softbox and the umbrella are about 2.5-3 feet off the ground. I have also found that I get much nicer lighting if I avoid cross lighting.

Brian

BAP, those last two shots are very nice. The exposure in on, and the lighting in my opinion, is much better than your frist posts. I like the detail in the dog's fur, and his/her expression is great. To top it off, the compositions are very well done!

Those are great portraits.

Thank you very much for the comment finalshot. I was wondering what people are using for posing tables for cats and dogs.
