Have you tried a little saturation and a little more contrast?

MORE FORGROUND! LESS SKY, MORE MOUNTAINS. . . BETTER LIGHT. . .

james, as remarkable as that place is, and as much as it's been photographed, we all have visions of what it looks like.

Ive strugle for years to show people reality and everyday looking mountains in glacier park, it never works. No one likes them, they want to see the saturated, once in a lifetime light and few shadows. I cant help that.

I think you just needed better light. . .

Now...here is the interesting thing...for whatever reason, when I look at this shot on my screen here at NWP (as opposed to photoshop), this image looks much less punchy and saturated. The print is also quite rich and saturated. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, I still think it looks nice on screen, but somehow it is not coming out exactly the same way.

I wonder what the difference is?

James

Hey Folks,

These are two identical images of the initial shot of the Mormon Row area. I have processed them differently using Roman's blending technique. I realize that there was some concern about the exposure and contrast of the first shot, so I am wondering how a bit of post processing helped.

Cheers
James

James I do like the first one. It is closer to what I would like to see. I agree with Tony that a little less sky might be nice since it is a little plain. The light is so warm there in the morning that it is difficult to capture the beauty of the scene. That was one of my favorite spots on my trip out there.

hey james - would you like to submit this photo for us to play with blending? if so, just email me the RAW file - i'd love to have a crack at this one. nice photo - just seems a little 'flat' - even your blended one here.
