I have been playing around with one image. Now that I am at this point I could use some advise as to masking a background with lots of noise.

This image is from one flower and it is beginning to look like a kalidescope (sp?). I also would love to know if there is a way to put this into a program (flash?) that would allow all my color choices to be shown. It is really cool in hues sliding the bar through all the colors.

Alot of the time when I am playing around with an image I am reminded of the saying about painting a watercolor. It takes two people to paint a watercolor, one to paint it and one to shoot them before we over work it.

Am I getting to the point where I should be shot?

Hi Peggysue,

Not sure what you are doing with the image yet, but I am very curious to see how it will turn out.

As to ways of getting rid of background noise in PS, I know of no really good ways. I know that there are software solutions, such as noise ninja that will do this. If others know good masking solutions in PS, I will be glad to hear them as well.

It took me a great deal of time to mask off what I wanted. I had hoped someone out there would have a wonderful route that would allow me to mask a large area that had noise. I know there are always many routes to get to a similar end but I cannot seems to figure an easy path on this one. Anyway, when I continued to layer this one flower I am ending with this final image. It is all from one picture of a tulip.

Please give your opinion on this image.

Yes! I googled Neat Image and would like you to tell us why and how you use it. How does it differ from despeckle in PS? Can I keep texture (noise) in some areas and not in others. Please elaborate about Neat Image.
Would you comment on the image or did you mom teach you that if you cannot say something nice, don't say anything at all?

I like it because it can be used in 16 bit mode (pro version of the plugin) and it is extreemly easy to use. Never used Despeckle and find the CS2 Noise reduction tool not anywhere as easy to use. Noise Ninja is the other tool I would consider.....LOL...but I have a hard time swallowing such a corny name...:D

The image (to me) is less of an image and more of an abstract....somthing you would see in a kalidascope. Not really my cup of tea...but kinda cool. Not much to cretique as it is out of my scope of work....so kinda hard to cretique it.

It works a whole lot better than despeckle or reduce noise in photoshop. The free copy works fine, but I liked it so much I bought it

interesting work. It's way out of my league too, so I'll just keep my comments to myself. Not saying its bad, I just dont have the capacity to critique abstracts, they are much too personal.
