Near miss.

I like this image, and it has a lot of un realized potential. Nice foreground objects....the horizon line is at a good position. My biggest problem with this image is the VERY evident transition line between the lighter sky and the the dark foreground. Either a misplaced Split ND filter, or a generic application on a gradient on a layer mask.

The idea of photoshop is to create edits that dont show up as edits later. This shot is quite nice and simple and diserves another attempt if done in photoshop.

Actually this could be a natural effect, e.g., low-lying clouds that break just around the horizon. I have seen it a number of times, most often from an airplane landing around sunset time through layers of clouds. The bright line mentioned is too fuzzy and uneven, IMO, for it to be either a misplaced GND or PS effect.

Um...sorry...not trying to be confrentational...but look at the big rock on the right hand side. It is DEFINITLY gradiated. Natural light just dosnt do that...unless it has a small airplane flying over just that rock just above the camera frame.

:~)

Aaah, I see. I thought you were talking about the sharp transition around the horizon. Yes, I agree, you can also notice it in the water. The little "cove" in the foreground is quite a bit lighter than the ocean behind it.

I am looking at the large rock and having a bit of difficulty seeing the unnatural shift in color. Am I missing something in plain site? LOL, let me state that again... please show me what I am missing.

The top 1/3 of the rock is flatter dark grey....the bottom 2/3 has life and reds mixed with the grey....Might be a blend that wasn't optomazed...or a true filter on the camera....i am guessing a blend. But hey...I have been wrong before...LOL!!

Hello Quiros

It is certainly a beautiful area. I was there in September when the coast was touched by a hurricane consequently very little coastal photography. bsvirginian

Bob, while I and the others enjoy your comments, please keep in mind this forum specifically is a critique forum and we might want to keep the conversation relevant to that theme. :~)
