Here's a goat I found on Friday Evening. Put in about 6 miles until I finally found one I could photograph. I caught him up high so his hide in still in good shape, still white. . .

Not sure why no one has commented on this one. Awesome shot, Tony. Very nice pose by this guy. Are you doing a lot of climbing as well as hiking?

NO hard core stuff, just the boulder dash and some scree. In the early spring the goats come down low enought to get to, they like to feed on new growth. They move up as the bugs get bad and the snow melts, or a grizz chases them up the rocks. . . It's a lot of hiking and up and down some steep stuff, and hanging off a few rock ledges, but nothing too technicle. . .

Nothing sounds more fun to do with thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment on your back, LOL.

Nice shot - great depth and contrast, warmth too.

I love the Rocky Mountain Goats, especially the little ones with their long legs and stubby horns. I've watched them go into my tent (probably looking for food) plus they are very attracted to urine and will lick, paw and nose around in the dirt where someone has pee'd. I assume they are not all like this, but certainly the ones I've encountered here in Colorado in places where they see a lot of human traffic (all the fourteener trails, Rocky Mountain National Park etc.)

Anyway, I've enjoyed all of your recent goat pics!

Thanks fellas!

Goats (and all other wildlife that need/want salt) will lick the urine for it's salt.

They also will lick antifreeze off the pavement.

Great shot!! I really like Mountain Goats, this one does look nice and white. I like his pose and expression, and the colors of the background with his white fur.
