This evolved out of the rather humorous spectacles my wife and I were witnessing at my son's 7th grade lacrosse games this season. She suggested that during lulls in the sports action I try to photograph some of the dogs folks were bringing to the games. All the shots are completely candid and spontaneous. Here's a link to my "Dogs of Lacrosse" album (seven images so far):

And here's a little teaser from the album:

My 'pet' theory (pun intended) is there are many reasons people may have for bringing their dogs to an outdoor sporting event, but chief among them is that they want to be seen with their beloved pet dog of whom they are so proud, and they want others to notice. Well, I noticed.

Nice job on these Buddy! You got nice emotions there. For me the reason I bring my dog to outdoor sporting events is because I can't bear to be away from her...she is my "kid" and I want her to enjoy everything I do, I take her grocery shopping with me, she sits in my lap when I get my hair cut, etc. I don't do anything for fun that she wouldn't be able to go to as well. For many their dogs really are their family.

LOL, Dee, we are the same way. The difference for us is that Mahkayla has tantrums if we leave her at home for too long - though they have been getting better recently.

That is an adorable shot of a very cute chi hooey hooey

I take my dogs places because I enjoy it, the kids enjoy and my dogs love to go and hate to be left! Kids at these events seem to enjoy the dogs being there too.

I am really enjoying this series. Especially this latest addition. Even though he is little he has a big presence.

We have Siberian Huskies. It is 90 degree here in IL and it is only May. They would prefer to stay in the air conditioning when it this hot. Now if they would only play scoccer in the snow!

How many dogs look like the owners?

Oooh hot already! I can imagine your snow dogs wanting to stay in the air conditioning. It's mid 50s here today and overcast, my favorite weather cool enough for dog walking and working outside.

"How many dogs look like the owners? "

Hallie and won a contest and are in a book called "Do you look like your dog?" by Gini Graham Scott. A compliment to me...not so to Hallie LOL.

Oh great - I want to see it. I will look for that book. We already know what she looks like, lovely. Now I picture you in a bed of red (pink) roses and holding a rose in your mouth.

Oh gads that's not an image ANYBODY should have in their head. LOL.

It really is interesting to see how many people really do resemble their dog. Buddy that might be a fun challenge for you to capture some dog/owner look a likes at these sporting events!
