Hey Everyone,

I photographed this guy earlier this year. We were asked to come in again and do some shots for his 1st birthday. This is the first time that we have been asked to do a sitting by the same family in the same year. Pretty cool.

James,
since you're not asking for a critique, I can simply comment on the overall impact of the images: they're great! The dog is really photogenic; the props are wonderful; the images are very nicely lighted with very nice composition.

Plus, they loved the first ones and invited you back. How good does that make you feel?

Very nice job,

Jim

Thank you all for the kind words. These were a very different set for me because I typically don't use props in my photographs. My general mindset is 'the dog, the whole dog and nothing but the dog.' However, I will admit that they definitely added something to the photographic series.

As to being invited back - yes - it felt great. My customer base for pets is relatively small, and it is something that I really enjoy. What was nice for me was that I had some definite anxiety that they were not going to be any better than the first set - these definitely trumped the first set.

James

James,
props are tough -- sometimes they work and sometimes they scare the heck out of the dogs. This guy doesn't seem to have any issues with them and that's always fun.

I will occasionally use props at Xmas time for my show setups and I have to be careful because not all dogs are comfortable being face-to-face with Santa or one of his reindeer .

For portraits, I always bring some props but I don't always use them. Depends on the dog.

Again, nice job.

Jim

This is probably my favorite of the series. I am trying to figure out whether or not I find the ears in the back of the hat to be distracting or not. My personal feeling is that they are not - but I will certainly listed to feedback.

Cheers
James

The ears back fits the pose. He has a serious old man look on his face and it works perfect with the hat
