Thanks everyone. I think the second one is a bit too cool also. Trying to color correct tended to make the background a touch hot and distracting. I had really brought up the midtones in that shot, which I think affected the color.

I would have loved to have used a reflector, but, I didn't have the co-ordination! I do think it would have helped and one day, I will get my husband out there to help me. I had a very short time to get photos as the mare should not be having any grass. She is badly foundered(recently) and is off all sugars and starches. So, she had 5 minutes of horsey heaven and then back to her stall
