I've shot food and architecture with view cameras and find them to offer the greatest flexibility in whatever look you are wanting to accomplish.
Uh huh. And when was the last time you shot with an 8X10 or 5X7 view camera? Yes, they have incredible flexibility and offer unparalleled image manipulation on the front end which is why they were so great as studio cameras. And I agree that everything I've seen out of the 35mm T&S lenses looks somehow unreal. Unless I were shooting food in the studio, I don't see the advantages.

Well, I guess that is the point. A view camera and digital back is what can get you the $30K a week gigs. In a studio. Thats not where I'm playing right now. But to answer Jim's question, I'll stick with my answer.

You'd need those gigs to pay for the equipment but you're right, that's where the catalog guys get their payback for having the right equipment.
As for Jim's question, if unreal compression of an image is your objective, can't you just do it in PS? I know the T&S lenses would give you some movement but I'm not sure it would be enough -- as Preston says. There must be a plug-in out there for this sort of thing.

Well, there is the photoshop Transform stuff to correct distortion and perspective and the On One Focal Point plug in for selective focus.
